They rescue Leah but are found out, and the party along with Leah rush back to the Millennium Falcon (Han Solo's ship). The millennium Falcon goes to the Rebel base and a plan is drawn to destroy the Death Star. Rebel pilots riding on X-wings and Y-wings attack the Death Star and its fleet of Tie-Fighters. Luke under Obi Wan's guidance through the Force destroys the Death Star. In the end Luke, Han Solo, and his partner Chewbacca are rewarded for their service to the Rebel Alliance.

Darth Vader cuts Luke's hand off and goes on to tell Luke that he is his son, "Luke I am your father". Luke falls down from Cloud City and is rescued by the Millennium Falcon. The movie ends with Luke's hand being replaced robotically and a plan being hatched to save Han Solo.

They quickly dispatch a team, which include Luke, Leah, Han Solo, Chewbacca, the two droids, and some rebel commandos to destroy the shield. Luke is captured by Stormtroopers and is taken to Darth Vader. On Endor, the rest of the party runs into the Ewoks who help them in destroying the shield. With the shield down Rebel fighters, with the Millennium Falcon piloted by Lando attack the Death Star. Inside, Luke and Darth Vader clash lightsabers while Emperor Palpatine watches. Luke tries to turn Darth Vader from the dark side but is forced to fight his father. Luke cuts off Vader's hand, only to see that it is also robotic. Palpatine, seeing that Luke won't turn to the dark side shoots at Luke with "force lightning". The helpless Luke is nearly dead when Vader lifts Palpatine and throws him down a shaft to his death. A hurt Vader is helped by Luke as explosions around the Death Star happen caused by the rebel fighters. Luke helps his father remove his mask, and sees Vader's true face. Luke escapes back to Endor with his father's dead body just as the Death Star explodes. On Endor, Luke cremates his father then joins the celebration at the Ewok village.
