As the years go on, drug use in the United States is getting far too casual and far too widespread. This is a growing problem obviously, and also is a growing concern for many parents. So, what do we do about such an obvious problem? The government has decided to fuel a multi-million dollar campaign against use of illegal narcotics, but everyone knows this plan has not been as effective as they expected it to be. In the end this war on drugs that they are exercising is actually a problem caused by a problem. Millions of taxpayer's money is directed toward fighting the use of drugs, but as anyone can see it's not working all that well. The best solution to fight drugs is common to everyday lifestop the problem at the source. This is why the United States needs an army-controlled border in order to monitor the drug trafficking as well as the illegal immigrants.

An army-controlled border would have many advantages. First of all, there would be more enforcement of laws commonly violated these days. Also, a beefed-up border with an army would catch immigrants carrying illegal substances at places that are currently vulnerable to entrance into the U.S. Since border patrol is overworked and understaffed already, it is in dire need of aid by the army. An army-controlled border is a necessity for the containment of drugs and for overall national security.

Everyone is not in support of an army at the border, however. For one thing, if the United States moved an army to the border, one could anticipate that Mexico would take it as a threat to their own security. This in turn could possibly lead to another world war, which no one wants. This is why a gradual infiltration of the army is necessary. Year after year the government could add more and more troops based on the effectiveness of their inhabitance. This way, as long as the U.S. kept good relations with Mexico, it would be less of a shock to them.

One could anticipate the government to object to the proposed solution also. Many officials would argue that the plan would be a waste of taxpayer's money. As anyone knows, though, if the army did limit the amount of drugs entering the U.S., it would actually be saving the taxpayer's money. They might also argue that it would slow down entrance into the U.S. at the border tremendously, which is a definite possibility. However, this is a small inconvenience compared to the advantages of having the army there.

Custom writing service can write essays on War on Drugs

Currently the border patrol is doing its best possible to stop the flow of drugs. Their efforts are not enough though. The government has tried in the past to increase security at the border, but obviously it has not made a dent in the trafficking of drugs. There is a great need for an army controlled border with thorough inspections. If this was possible, less money would be spent on ad campaigns against drugs, and more drugs would be eradicated at the source. Until then, drugs will continue to flow in and out of the U.S. Are your children safe?

It all begun in the morning when we arrived at school at eight everyone carrying there packs and sleeping bags. Some with tents and some wondering were they would sleep that night. We hopped on the buss's after being checked off at about quarter to nine. I was lucky enough to ride up front in the beaten mini-bus which Mr. bridges would be driving. The ride up was not very long but Mr. Bridges beautiful singing made it even shorter. As we arrived in Ballarat Mr. Bridges gave us his local tour guide talk seeing as though he grew up in the tiny town. We arrived at the Pax Hill scout camp thank full that we would not have to listen to Mr. Bridges sing. First we just mucked around throwing some balls around and picking our tent areas which was important the less amount of rock and foliage underneath the better nights sleep. It was then time to set up the tents. This was a fairly easy task but thinking about how three guys would fit in that small tent we had managed to put up. With all that in the back in the mind it was time to get in our groups and begin the activities. Orienteering was first fairly easy but a lot of fun running around having some fun while looking for little yellow poles. The post were easy to pick out except for the ones hidden by bark and leaves. After orienteering was catching shrimp in a little very poor looking pond. We tied some raw meet to string then to a stick and threw it out and hoped. No luck we caught two shrimp while supposedly others had caught 14. Then time for obstacle course. As a group we had to get through a tire without touching it. This proved very hard but a great time. After this we had to cook our meals in the little gas stoves was a lot of fun seeing what people had bought, someone had bought lamb cutlets form home with veggies. A nice dinner out in the bush. Before nightfall it was time for abseiling. A ten metre walk rose above. The instructors jumped down like it was nothing to hard. As I leaned over the edge I realised it wasn't so simple and I was just hoping I had a good change of jocks. Once I arrived on the ground I was happy to stay there and we set off for the Camp fire. A huge fire was lit and people enjoyed adding to it and roasting marshmallows. From the light of the fire it was time for the mine. The mine was pitch black and with only two torches in there many were scared to move forward. It made it even harder with huge Mr. Gotch and Mr. Bridges jumping out at you from little corners of the mine, if the look of them didnt scare you then the surprise did. This was all fun and some were loving being out in the open but some would've rather stayed inside. But now it was time for bed. Many found it hard to sleep on the hard and rocky ground and with not much sleep many rose very grumpy in the morning and weren't ready for the morning bush walk the teachers weren't the kids favourite people after the walk we packed our tents and returned home. The camp was a great one and I didnt realise one and a half days could be so fun. Thanks to Mr. Bridges and the other teachers who helped out.

Beowulf

If you order your research paper from our custom writing service you will receive a perfectly written assignment on Beowulf. What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. Specify your order details, state the exact number of pages required and our custom writing professionals will deliver the best quality Beowulf paper right on time.

Beowulf is an Anglo-Saxon epic poem, which relates the adventures of Beowulf, a Scandinavian hero who saves the Danes from the seemingly invincible monster Grendel and, later, from Grendels mother. He then returns to his own country, Geatland, and dies in old age in a vivid fight against a dragon. The poem is about encountering the monstrous, defeating it, and then having to live on in the exhausting aftermath. This poem's point of view is a vital part in the telling of the story of Beowulf.

Beowulf's point of view could be affected by the time the story was first told. The story was believed to have been composed sometime between the 8th century and the time of the manuscript in the early 11th century. The poem itself was known and had been elaborated upon for centuries by minstrels who recited the heroic exploits of the son of Ecgtheow and nephew of Hygelac, King of the Geats, whose kingdom was what is now Southern Sweden. The earliest surviving epic poem written in English, Beowulf was most likely composed in the seventh or eighth century, but being more precise depends on where one believes the poem was composed.

A story told from the family point of view could alter how the story turns out or send a certain message. It is now thought possible that both of the following royal lines shared a common ancestry. A contender, which has come seriously into the weighing up as a result of the Sutton Hoo discovery, is seventh century East Anglia. Not only was the ship burial (which dates to 65AD) weird like the burials of Scyld and Beowulf, but the grave goods revealed the East Anglian court of the Wuffingas to be unexpectedly sophisticated and closely linked to the Swedish royal house at Uppsala. This is why these royal lines are thought to share ancestry. A scholar, Howell Chickering, questioned if it was through the East Anglian court that detailed knowledge of Scandinavian tribal history in Beowulf became available in England. He also asked if the poem composed in such a way that it told East Anglians something of their semi-historical, semi-legendary Scandinavian ancestors There is a good case for believing that Beowulf was composed in Suffolk, at the palace of Rendlesham, within living memory of the great ship-burial in 65AD.

The point of view can also determine how much we know about the characters in the story depending on to what extent the narrator gives details. The narrator recounts the story in the third person, from a generally objective standpoint, detailing the action that occurs. The narrator does have access to every character's depth. We see into the minds of most of the characters at one point or another, and the narrative can move forward and backward in time with considerable freedom.

Beowulf is a very adventurous yet gloomy story. Since this story was told from mouth to mouth, anything could have changed the point of view. The time the story was first told, family ancestry and narrators point of view are all different aspects that are taken in perspective when this story is told or analyzed. That makes this story all the more interesting.

Alcohol

If you order your cheap custom paper from our custom writing service you will receive a perfectly written assignment on alcohol. What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. Alcohol is one drug that by society is taken too lightly. It is not illegal and it is not taken seriously enough by anyone. It is seen as the substance you need to have a good time; substance that should be used only in moderation. Unfortunately this isn't explained in the commercial with the models and celebrities who are usually celebrating in the beach. Many people begin drinking after seeing commercials like these. Unfortunately this isn't the only reason why people begin to drink heavily.

There are many reasons that people begin to drink. First of all they do it to experiment. Some people want to see what it is like; this is why so many people enjoy it as much. The commercials on t.v. invite people to live nice and luxurious, and happy lifestyles that the people in their commercial are living, and this appeals to many. Another thing that many people begin this habit is because they are trying to escape emotional pain. Many people in this generation are stressed or upset and they see alcohol as their outlet and this often leads to excess. This never leads to a solution, and even causes bigger problems in the end. Peer pressure can often lead to drinking too, it is seen as the number one cause. It is very common to see others saying" You should try this drink, everyone's doing it! Don't be a coward!" Many want to fit in and eventually succumb to the others plea to drink. This is especially true in teen years when teens are trying to make an identity for themselves. Another less viewed reason is boredom. Many people are bored, simply because they have too much free time in their hands, and they turn to alcohol to bring some fun into their lives, which this is the last thing you should resort to. Lastly the reason that is mostly linked with teenagers is rebellion. Many teens are making an effort to being independent and "mature" and to some this means doing something you aren't supposed to be doing so that you separate from your parents, this is a method that very seldom works. It isn't easy to find the exact age that people start to drink; it is thought to be from twelve to sixteen, by this time nearly 4% of young people have tried alcohol. Another factor that usually isn't discussed is the parents drinking which also affects when the child will begin to drink as well. If the parent drinks heavily it is more likely that the child will eventually become a heavy drinker too. This is a serious problem that many parents fail to see, or rather would like not to acknowledge.

The effects and problems that come along with alcohol are often hidden from the general public. We associate the aftermath of drinking with throwing up and headaches when really the effects are much, much worse. I'll start off with the short term effects of drinking or the things that happen in a short period of time after drinking. Some of these effects are slower reaction tines and reflexes, heavy sweating, blurry or double vision, nausea and vomiting, lower reasoning ability, lower inhibitions, poor motor coordination, inability to drive a car, slowed heart rate, slowed breathing rate, reduced blood pressure, Anxiety, restlessness, mental confusion, memory loss, coma, and death from respiratory arrest. These effects happen in a short period of time, not even years, but hours and days. At first you are excited, even more sociable. You become more talkative, and more confident. These are the things that the people on t.v. and billboards seem to be feeling. What isn't portrayed is the shorter attention span, the lack of judgment and control, and the emotional instability. Many people don't comprehend as well as when they are sober, they also become drowsy. The next level is confusion, when the person is disoriented, where their vision begins to distort, they can't coordinate their muscles as well as they used to, they stumble and stagger and their speech is slurred. The stage after this is when they don't respond to stimuli , they are less conscious and begin to vomit. The stage after this is when you enter a state of coma due to the intoxication, and this is when you are completely unconscious. The stage after this is sadly enough death, which can occur from respiratory arrest. These things aren't shown in the commercials now are they?

If you thought that these were the only effects that occur, you couldn't be more wrong. Years of heavy drinking can lead to many other body problems, as well as to the mind and emotions, which are equally at stake. The extent of the damage to the body depends on many things such as the duration and severity of the abuse, the gender of the person, and the age. Men are usually more likely to develop an alcohol abuse problem, two thirds of alcohol abusing and dependent individuals are men. Besides these statistics women usually experience more alcohol related diseases than men. Women experience greater physical damage after fewer tears of drinking. The diseases also progress more rapidly in women than in men. Women have death rates 50-100% greater than men in alcohol related deaths. Heavy alcohol abuse is also dangerous for young people. Studies have shown that heavy drinkers at a young age have shown shrinkage in the part of the brain dealing with memory and learning. Alcohol can also prevent teeth from growing full size; it also interferes with bone and muscle growth. People who drink as teenagers have a much higher risk top develop osteoporosis in their later years. Some long term effects of alcohol abuse are birth defects, liver damage, pancreas damage, heart disease, bone damage, cancer, and brain damage. Other health problem include weakened vision, mal nutrition (they drink rather than eat) water retention, skin disorder, dilated blood vessels, heartburn, nausea, gastritis, ulcers, sexual problems, reduced sperm count, less mobile sperm, abnormal sperm cells, menstrual difficulties, decreased fertility, and early menopause. What many people don't know is that there are some alcohol specific diseases. One of these is Alcoholic Liver Disease, which begins with fatty liver. This disease seems to injure the liver by blocking the normal metabolism of protein, fats and carbohydrates. Cirrhosis is another disease thought to be linked directly to alcoholism. This causes Edema and Ascites (when liver loses ability to make protein) and when water accumulates in water and abdomen, Bruising and bleeding, jaundice (yellowing of the skin), itching of the skin, gall stones, toxins in the blood and in the brain, sensitivity to medication, portal hypertension varices, and problems to other organs. Another major problem today is when pregnant mothers drink alcohol. This is called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and it leads to many complications to the unborn baby that are permanent. These problems are both mental and physical, and require a lifetime of special care. Many people regard drinking during pregnancy as an insignificant matter when in reality is very serous, and alcohol consumption during pregnancy can be harmful to the unborn fetus. These are some of the endless list of long term effects that affect the human body.

Many mentors, and teachers and parents insist that the first time that you use a substance it hooks you on to it. Too bad that we don't listen to these warnings, they may be true but most of the population is too stubborn to realize this. We have to take actions to stop it, not only warnings and reprimands. Some solutions that I would offer would be to cut back on the amount of advertisement of alcohol. There are t.v. commercials on the t.v. everyday and at all times. They entice the public to go out and try it, because it seems enjoyable. There are billboards on every corner of the streets, highways, etc. Every time you turn on the radio there are commercials telling their listeners to relax with the newest and "now tastier and lower in carbs" alcoholic beverage. There should be a time set when these types of things should be aired, maybe at night when people that are mature enough go out and drink. I don't say to abolish all alcoholic commercials, because the industry does have to make some money but the goal should be to limit the air time. This will limit the need to use this substance to fit in, and may even lessen peer pressure. Less exposure of the substance means less time to wonder what its like or diminish the craving for it.

The poem â€The Garden of love” by William Blake is about a person who tells his story that he went to the garden of love, where he used to play and saw that a chapel was built in the center and the gates were closed with an order not to enter. The garden of love that he found bore the sweet flowers he knew and instead it was filled with graves and tombs-stones, priests who were binding briars around his joy and desires.

In Blake’s poem we see the church as the transcendent figure that enforces religion and social morals on the people and many people were sexually repressed at this time. The narrator is writing about his personal experience, the church repressed him from expressing love, joy and desires and he could not play anymore the game of love so, love became a cemetery. The standards set by the church made it impossible for anyone to play the games of love. The doors of the chapel were â€shut” this word has a strong weight and is very distressing. And â€Thou shalt not” is another emphasize to that feeling. I think that the man lost his innocence and realized that things are different than the way he saw them before.

Another way to analyze the poem is by seeing the Garden of Love as a metaphor to the love between a man to his God, the narrator wanted to be close to God I went to the Garden of Love as he used to be when he was little but found the church standing in his way A Chapel was built in the midst. The church presented here as an obstacle between men and God And the gates of this Chapel were shut/ And Thou shalt not writ over the door. Blake gives emphasis to the word Thou shalt not to indicate once more how oppressive the church is. He attacks the priests because, instead of offering Gods comfort as they were meant to do, they become like judges or police officers telling men what they can or cannot do And Priests in black gowns were walking their rounds/ And binding with briars my joys and desires.

Help with essay on Blake and Wordsworth

The poem â€She dwelt among the untrodden ways” by William Wordsworth is about a girl, Lucy who was a maid and lived unknown, no one paid attention to her or saw that she was exist. Hardly anyone noticed when Lucy died except to the narrator who felt that it made a difference to him.

Wordsworth describes, through imagery, a young woman who has experienced terrible loneliness and sadness. †A maid whom there were none to praise and very few to love”. No one knew her, or when she ceased to be; however, it made a difference to Wordsworth. Even if no one cared, he did and that made the difference. Wordsworth seems to be revealing the heartless attitude of society at that time towards the lower class. It appears as though Wordsworth is describing the struggle of the lower class people to exist and the contradiction because no one can live in loneliness and despair. In Wordsworth we can envision death but Wordsworth also shows us through his poetry that life can be eternal, because he remember Lucy.

I love college. I really do, I'm not kidding. I think learning from other people is the most amazing thing. I love the environment and the satisfaction of getting a good grade after I've spent a lot of time studying and preparing. I love everything from failing test to knowledge breakthroughs (you know those moments where you get a wave of clarity?). But I didn't always feel this passionate about school. There was actually a point in my life that I actually despised school and thought it was only formed as a penalty. We all as humans have to crawl before we walk. It takes going through academic experiences before college to realize it's importance in personal and professional growth.

I started school when I was 4 because my birthday falls in October, and as far as I can remember I really hated school. It was wonderful to be home all day playing, watching TV and then one day, out of no where my mom wakes me up and leaves me at a big building that I have never seen before with a bunch of kids that want me to share my toys. I thought that was terrible. How could anyone want to share their toys?

Despite my problem with sharing in general I made it ok through elementary. Junior High School was sort of the same. I made good enough grades to get me through High School but never put any real effort and I never understood the point of it. Then I entered college.

At first I was a bit apprehensive; so far I hadn't held a good opinion about school so I thought, "This is really going to be hard". My first two of weeks were terrible. I had a hard time adjusting. The work I was being given was too hard for me or at least that's what I was blaming for my lack of progress. Then I had a big turn of events. I had College algebra Mondays and we were having a test. Out of no where I decide "Why

don't I try looking my notes over since I don't understand any of this?". I did just that then lo and behold, I finally passed my first math test ever. I was so proud of myself and it was then I realized that I can do well in school. My whole view changed. I started to look at my teachers in a different light. They were real people just spreading the knowledge they've obtained with hard work, and if I could learn what they hold that is amazing.

In conclusion, I think I am living proof that feelings can change. People often have many misconceptions of things that they do not fully comprehend. I feel that once you are ready to think outside the box and experience what you do not understand, the best has yet to come. Taking risks can be terrifying, but taking calculated risks may just be worth it.

The principle of animism allowed the Native Americans to live much more differently and more conservatively than the Europeans. Animism was a belief that the supernatural was present in all aspects of the natural world. The Native Americans, or Indians, thought every part of nature possessed certain powers or spirits. They believed an infinite variety of beings owned a varying measure of power. Contrary to the Indians beliefs, the Europeans followed the faith of Christianity. They believed in a single God who was spirit and who also possessed supernatural powers. His forces sustained the earth itself, unlike the Indians multiple spirits, which were forever encircling them and inhabiting animate and inanimate objects.

Visions allowed native people to communicate with the spirits in order to recruit their aid in hunting, gathering, cultivating, and even war. Indians sometimes thought that a dream could be more powerful and real than actually being awake. Fasting and seclusion helped in triggering dream sequences. The best Indian visionaries were called shamans. They served as the person in the middle, between the human and the other power or spirit. Shamans held rituals about hunting, harvesting crops, and protection in war. Even the most skilled shamans could not always influence the spiritual beings.

Looked upon as primitive to the Europeans, the natives thought of themselves as smarter and more practical. The Indians knew a great deal about their surroundings because of their constant interaction with nature. They understood the different types of edible vegetations and healing life forms in both the forests and waters. They were knowledgeable of the best times and techniques for finding and harvesting wild plants and animals. For this reason, the Indians saw the Europeans as being too preoccupied with making their metals and clothes. To the natives, the Europeans appeared that they did not understand nor appreciate nature for what it was worth.

The European's Christian faith taught the Europeans to view nature differently and more commercially than the Indians. For example, in harvesting all the resources that they wanted from nature, they did not think they were offending any spirits. Unlike the Native Americans, the Europeans saw animals and wild plants as prospective merchandise. Nature was full of items that could be harvested and sold for profit. The Europeans had no care for the "supernatural powers" that the Indians believed existed in everything in nature.

Compared to the Europeans, the Native Americans had a more intricate understanding of the mutually dependent relationship between the natural and supernatural. The North American Indians followed animism and that the world was full of supernatural powers within nature. The Europeans believed that it was their responsibility to take over nature and the way it worked. From cultivating the land to selling crops, the Europeans took nature for granted. Amidst the controversy between who was the first inhabitant of the New World, it is fair to say that the two major cultures had completely opposing viewpoints about the environment and the important role it played.

As an underpaid salesman, Willy Loman is incapable of defining his true self. He is terribly ashamed, but refuses to accept his faults. Instead, he constantly attempts to cover his flaws with lies. Willy Loman is a man who "took a wrong turn" somewhere in life. From that single occurrence, he shamefully regrets not taking the "chance of a lifetime." He has become too focused on what he wants to happen that he cannot see the proper way in going about achieving his goal. His world turns upside down and inside out because of his constant flaw of reminiscing over past events.

Willy can be considered an "American nothing." He was a true selfless and hard worker until he began to age beyond his prime. He wasn't the same salesman he used to be. Now that he was being paid on straight commission, Willy struggles with more debts and often took loans from his friend Charley. Becoming more and more ignorant with every passing day, he soon finds himself caught up in his own world of lies and sorrow.

Inept to recognizing the true love that is offered to him, Willy gets caught up in his recollections of the past. His wife truly understands him and is fully devoted to him while their sons shortly become impatient and sick of his daydreams. Before long, Willy begins to intertwine his two worlds together the past and the present. He reminisced of Biff finding out about his affair, which in turn, advanced the deterioration of his false reality and placed a heavy burden of guilt upon himself. Self-denial and mistakes made in the past can only lead to one outcome, suicide. The guilt he feels intensifies the fact that he craves to commit suicide.

Throughout the play, it is constantly stressed how Ben periodically encountered Willy as a young man at the age of seventeen and by the time he was twenty-one, walked away rich. This constantly emphasized fact compels Willy to be even more distressed. He frequently wonders how his life would have changed if he took the opportunity of working with his brother. Willy's judgment was based on recollections that involved Ben from the past. When Ben was always in a hurry, Willy would ask him a quick question to ease his mind a small degree. Willy's constant insecurities led to all the confusion he was going through.

Cheap College Papers on death of a salesman: willy loman characteristics

Willy Loman, around whom this play is based, is a character of many levels. He is a character that can be classified as "mentally unstable." He cannot quite distinguish the differences between the past and the present. This inability is the major cause that complicates his life. Willy's "life of lies" cannot be understood anymore due to his own lack of knowledge. He can either be seen as the hardworking salesman or the guilty father. He is determined, yet unsuccessful; demanding, yet ungrateful; insensitive, yet loved.

Please note that this sample paper on death of a salesman: willy loman characteristics is for your review only. There are 51% of human population is woman in the world, in other words, % more than the man. One may think woman can get similar resources and rights as man can. However, the truth is not. Few women in the world can have fair rights and respect as man, and this also can be observed in Taiwan's society. Nevertheless, the role and the position of women are changing gradually in the past fifty years. This can be seen from two phenomena the one is that the alternation of woman's rule, and the other one is the improvement of the woman's rights and the positions.

The first one thing is the alternation of the woman's role. Fifty years ago, woman in Taiwan had the same meaning with ¡°house keeper¡±. The only job they were allowed to do was to finish some unimportant house works that their husbands ordered. It would be impossible to give the woman the decision right because of their low level position in home. But now, the role of woman has been changed and becomes more complicated. At home, they are still responsible for housekeeping in most Taiwan families. But at the working place, they are given the same requirements as the men are. In other words, they undergo the double pressures in their life.

The second one is the woman's right and positions are both improving nowadays comparing with fifty years ago. This can be observed form the increment of woman's salary, increment of the education opportunity, and policy for protecting woman. One of the most differences is that women's payment has been largely increased than tens of years ago. Most enterprises now focus more on one's ability than one's gender, and bosses are willing to hire capable woman and give them high payment. The promotion chance of woman in company is increased, and female leader is common for many companies. Another one is that the woman's education chance is increased. According to the statistics from government, the rate of college female students is higher than the rate of male students, which is largely increased comparing with fifty years ago. The last one is that the policy is changing to protect woman. For example, Accton Inc., one of the leading networking hardware manufacturers in Taiwan, has already prolonged the maternity leave from three months to one year. The Taiwan government is also making the law of sex equality to give the woman more protection on their rights formally.

In conclusion, the role of women is different and is more challenging than before, and their rights and positions are also raised. However, that doesn't means woman receive the same equal position and protection with man in current society. Some companies are still having severe prejudice on woman leaders. Lots of man put all responsibilities of housekeeping to their wives and regarded it to be reasonable. There are still large things we can improve for women in Taiwan, and I am optimistic in seeing a fully sexual equality society.

This statement about me and my high school years is something I would like you to take into consideration. The basic facts that I have given in my application are only the facts that are written down and kept record of. They don't tell you who I am as a person, nor do they tell you if I would be good for your school. Hopefully in this personal statement of mine, I would like to not accuse, but to explain why some of the reasons why you should consider me a student that is right for your school.

I would first like to start off out saying that your school is at the top of my list, as well as many others. I have learned many great things in high school such as, how to deal with pressure when it counts the most, how to work as a member of a team to achieve the same goal, how to deal with gain as well as loss, and many more great tools needed in life to succeed. Yet there are many more ideas and theories to be learned in college that I would like to experience, most of all, at your university. I think J.F. Kennedy said it the best, "ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what can you do for your country". I think I have the same principle, when I ask you it's not what your university can do for me, but what can I do to for your university.

My high school career had it ups and downs, my grade point average is lower than I would like it to be, but again I'm every active and do many extra circular activities. I am involved in football, basketball, track, FFA, FBLA, DECA, and a member of the Who's Who Among American High School Students, (which only 5% of high school students belong to nation wide). I work hard for what I want, not what other people want out of me. There's not a week out of the year that I am not in a sport trying to improve myself. Athletics take up a great deal of my time and energy, but I love to compete so it doesn't bother me as much as others. I have respect for what I do and what I have, and on the same note I have the same amount of respect for myself as I do with other people and their belongings. I also help my grandmother out when she can't do something or when she was sick. I only live with my mother, who works hard, so sometimes that makes it hard on me to get to my homework every night, because I have to do house chores and make my own meals a great deal of the time. I also help out my best friend do farm chores from time to time during the week when I have school next day, because his father had cancer a while back and now has been hospitalized lately a few times with heart problems. You can say that I care about other people more than myself and what I want to get accomplished.

Other great things you don't know about me yet, is that I have pride in what I do, and I am have loyal to where I'm from and loyal to my family. I also am a very creative and interesting person. Which makes me get along with just about everybody, and I'm hoping college will help me become even more open minded to other cultures and races. I don't want to go through life not knowing what is all out there to discover and that can be reached with my abilities.

I would obviously enter essays I write in the future provided I agree with the layout, content and overall idea of yu website. I would obviously not want to add anything of mine to something until I am absolutely sure that it is something that I want to be involved with. Hope you understand. I hope that you dont mind but I can not put my name on something until I see what that something is The remainer of this essay is gobbledygook in order to make the word count (Ive been pondering that a lot lately. My coach urged me to come up with a mission statement to

guide my various actions and choices. I know how important having options

and variety is to me, how I love to find and share resources on the Web, and how full of vitality I am when I feel fulfilled. As a coach, I love being able to work on clarity, focus, motivation and momentum with clients. How could I put all that into a few words. Well, I did, and I get a buzz every

time I say it. My mission is to stimulate discovery and focus on fulfillment.

What Ive noticed is that when Im feeling distracted or frustrated or overextended, if I ask myself how I can stimulate discovery or focus on fulfillment, I am usually able to see what to do next. It has even made the task-oriented side of myself more at ease when I take a nap. If Ive worked past midnight, and its now pm, a nap IS the most fulfilling thing I can do. And there are times Ive made so many discoveries (check my www.galaxymall.com/books/memoirs/whtsnext.html site for 155 links) that I am quite ready to daydream, to journal, to go to the gym to feel more fulfilled.

A case in point. I raised the rent today for my seven roomers. I discovered I felt more powerful and more fulfilled because I asked for what I wanted that was fair. If neither discovery nor fulfillment were a part of it, I would not have risked roomers reactions. I spent much longer than necessary with the contractor who was making a bid on various repair projects around my home. Why? I was discovering information about maintenance options and learning about financial and physical health projects he was involved in. Interesting--Im less likely to let my inner critic or pusher take over when I am living in discovery and fulfillment.

Ive always wanted a one-liner that would be my clarion call. It never seemed possible. Ive read or saved 1000s of quotes, have stacks of clippings for areflections notebook, save Top 10 lists (topten.org) full of wonderful steps toward fulfillment, believe in the Golden Rule, and its TOO MUCH to keep

track of. My one liner is perfect--for me!)

Abstract

A transformational leader is a term used to describe a person who posesses qualities that can change a situation by influenecing the thoughts and ideas of other to create a predetermined outcome. The mojor role or a transformational leader is to become a mediator between two individual parties, and in business it's usually management's responsibility to create a well balanced environment.

The definition of a transformational leader can be translated in so many different ways, yet somehow all the interpretations remain the same. Clearly there are quite a few commonalities associated with its definition that all the articles can inter-relates with each

other. "Hines defined transformational leadership as the ability, willingness, and courage to influence change within the fundamental core of how people think and

behave"(Varricchionne, 001). She then states that a problem cannot be resolved if it isn't properly define ,so she categorize them distinctly as a situation, behavior, impact, and an action. "By clearly defining a problem, we are better able to identify the actions needed to achieve a desired outcome. Hines repeatedly reminded the participants that each component of the model must be stated in five words or less"(Varricchionne, 001).

"A transformational leader is a person with the ability to create or facilitate the creation of an organizational vision of an idealized state"(Ackoff, 1). Every leader has to have an idea of what their role is in order to have a sense of direction. A leader must be prepared in order to have a sense of control and aurtoity when a situation happens to arise. "Leadership consists of guiding, encouraging, and facilitating others in the pursuit of ends by the use of means, both of which they have either selected or approved"(Ackoff, 1).

After a leadership role has been acheived that person must now guide the way, so others can follow and have a better idea of what the over all goal is and how to acheive it.

"According to Jan Carlzon, the transformational leader of SAS Airlines, a leader must encourage and facilitate formulation of an organizational vision in which as many stakeholders as possible have participated The leader must create an environment in which employees can accept and execute their responsibilities with confidence and finesse. He must communicate with his employees, imparting the companys vision and listening to what they need to make that vision a reality. To succeed . . . he must be a visionary, a strategist, an informer, a teacher, and an inspirer" (Ackoff, 1). He further adds a leader cannot be taught and therefore can only be trained in that role but, that doesn't include catergorizes like management. There is a difference between leadership and management and in the work force respect is often overlooked. In the work force ther are a few qualiteis that employers look for and expect to find in aleadership role, "(1) recruitment and diversity, () core competencies, () the advanced learning institute, and (4) accreditation and certification"(Calhoun, Davidson, Griffith, & Sinioris, 00).

Although these qualities doesn't neseccarily define what transformational leadersip is it does define the qualities they need. Leaders expect problems and great leaders solve them. Every problem has a solution and every situation has an outcome. People have different ideas , thoughts and perspectives on everything. A leader has the ability to focus everyone's effort and sense of dedication or loyalty to accomplish a common goal. A great leader can create an environment where their work can inspire others.

Co-education has many advantages and disadvantages, it is applied to in many schools, yet there are also many single-sexed schools. Many advantagious aspects of co-education include the fact that there are broader opportunities and a wider range of options of curricular activities for both sexes, a more comfortable surrounding for the childrens future because they are already used to working in an area with both males and females. Another advantage is that the students can increase and strive for a higher standard academically due to competition between both sexes. Yet the disadvantages of co-education are also notably crucial. Possible increase in violence and abuse because the stronger sex could take advantage of the weaker sex both mentally or physically. Loss of concentration could also affect one of the genders, due to the distraction caused by the other sex. These aspects need to be taken into consideration, especially for parents who need to make a decision to whether their child/children should be put into a co-educational school or a single-sexed school.

In a co-educational school, there will most definitely be more choices in particular activities especially when it comes to the topic of sport. For example, girls will be able to participate in sports such as rugby while boys could join netball, both sports dominated by either one of the genders. The same applies academically, subjects offered to the students would be broader, girls could have the choice of more male-dominant subjects as well as the usual mandatory choices and vice-versa for the boys.

Children growing up in a surrounding co-educational system could be more advantagious for their future. This is because they have grown up in the same sort of surrounding, working and talking to both females and males, leading them to feel more comfortable when talking to the opposite sex. For children who have attended single-sexed schools all their lives, could encounter problems of discomfort and awkwardness when talking or working with the opposite sex because they are simply just not used to it.

Students in co-educational schools possibly strive to achieve higher-than-average standard academically than single-sexed schools due to the fact that both genders are competitively trying to beat each other. For instance, girls may be more dominant in literature and boys may be more dominant in mathematics, therefore girls could be encouraged and have goals to out beat the other sex by working harder in the mathematics area and vice-versa for the boys, which means that the school would be raising its academic standards overall.

Chemistry Coursework- Planning

Introduction

In this piece of coursework I will attempt to design an experiment that will lead to a graphical procedure to determine the rate equation for the reaction between sodium thiosulphate and hydrochloric acid

Custom writing service can write essays on Plan for rate equation cw

Scientific knowledge

Before any chemical reaction occurs two or more molecules of the reactants must successfully collide together in the right orientation (the correct angle), the more collisions the faster the reaction rate. Concentration is just one of many factors which can affect this reaction rate and it is this factor which we will use to determine the rate equation of the reaction we will be monitoring.

"For many reactions involving liquids or gases, increasing the concentration of the reactants increases the rate of reaction." (www.chemguide.co.uk)

Using an acid as an example, the higher the concentration of the acid the more H+ ions are present thus there is a greater chance of a successful collision occurring. In our experiment we will be looking at what effect changing the concentration of both the sodium thiosulphate and the hydrochloric acid has upon the overall reaction rate, by plotting graphs based on this data we are then able to find the rate equation of the reaction.

''rate equations equations giving the relationship between reaction rate and concentrations of reactants.''

(http//www.chem.purdue.edu)

Rate equations can tell us whether a reaction is 1st, nd or Zero order

1st order reactions -Reactions in which the rate varies with concentration of a single species, and the change in concentration is exponential, so that a plot of ln(concentration) vs. time is linear. The stoichiometric coefficient is 1. Radioactive decay is an example usually cited, but many electron transfer processes, and most enzyme mechanisms contain intermediate reactions that are first order.

nd order reactions- Reactions in which the rate varies with concentration of a single species, but the stoichiometric coefficient is . The rate varies with the reciprocal of the concentration, so that a plot of 1/(concentration) vs. time is linear. Alternatively they can be reactions in which the rate varies with the concentration of two substrates, each of which has a stoichiometric coefficient of 1.

Zero order reactions-Many reactions in biochemistry appear to occur at a rate independent of substrate concentration. These are said to show zero-order behavior.

To plot the graphs required to work out this rate equation we need to monitor the amount of product produced, in this case we will only be looking at the solid sulphur that forms when the two reactants are allowed to react. To work out the relative concentration of sulphur present we will look at the time it takes for a cross placed under the reacting vessel to become no longer visible. The more sulphur produced, the more opaque the reacting vessel meaning less light passing through and decreasing visibility.

Note. In this coursework [ ] will denote concentration

Preliminary tests were carried out and the following results obtained

The models developed by Boustedt and the ÖSTAT (Austrian Statistical Center) use deductive methods. They assume that the area around a city is divided into concentric parts with a clear gradient from the center to the outskirts (Gravitationskonzept). This theory can be seen very clear using the Boustedt model on the case study Innsbruck (Boustedt Zones).

The Austrian model of urban regions follows Boustedt in general, but is adapted to the specific Austrian conditiones.

Summarizing we can say that the Bousted model leads to a strong generalisation and is therefore very suitable for international comparison. On the other hand it only shows a part of reality. The model of the ÖSTAT, comes closer to reality. The existence of further centers (Hall, Schwaz) is more obvious than in the Boustedt maps.

Daniel Bogner und Karin Bartl have visualized a few features which influence the spatial division of an area in a series of maps. These maps show the actual location of settlements and traffic lines and the routes of commuters. In a second series of maps Daniel Bogner and Karin Bartl combined a number of parameters to show the growth of settlements from 171 till 11. These parameters were the increase of the number of buildings and of inhabitants.

Borsdorf used these maps to define qualitative explicable urban regions. But it is to say that such a procedure always comprises a certain amount of arbitrariness.

While the maps of Daniel Bogner and Karin Bartl are analytic and until a certain grade qualitative because they visualize only one parameter per map, Armin Heller uses an integrative and multivariate method. The parameters vary in the course of a cluster analysis which leads to a number of different maps. Depending on the used parameters the communities are united to different groups of similar characteristics.

Cluster analysis are more objective because they reflect the existing spatial structures without the influence of traditional understanding of space.

Virtual cooperation

I think, the basic rules are quite all right. (Gerhard Schöffthaler, Austria, Nov , 18).

With interest I have taken notice of your rules for the virtual project. I think they are indeed necessary for the good outcome of the virtual communication. (Andreas Hoogeveen, The Netherlands, Nov 0, 18).

The rules are ok. (Dirk Schmidt, Germany, Nov 18, 18), (Daniel Zerweck, Germany, Nov , 18)

„Have fun" and „Do a good job" - Both are very general objectives. The second one has a non-professional conotation. To my mind, you may put this at the end, with a hint of humor but not at the very begining. (Shaul Krakover, Israel, Nov 1, 18)

The rules look great. A very good beginning! (Franz J. Nahrada, Austria, Oct 7, 18)

I am very curious to the proceedings from this starting point. The web-site is providing some background information, and I think that a lot of the necessary fields of expertise are provided for, when you look at the people participating. Still, the project is in a very premature stage and a lot of work has to be done. (Andreas Hoogeveen, The Netherlands, Nov 0, 18).

Did you know that we have a BIG problem in our world? The problem is that there is too much waste being produced by humans. Waste is left over material like paper, lunch bags, cans, bottles, plastic bags, wood and metal. Waste is stuff we throw into the garbage because we do not want to use it no more. Its stinky and filling up the landfill sites. We are littering and polluting the land, water and the air we breathe. Its just too easy to throw papers and other stuff you dont need on the ground. Too much garbage hurts our environment and the animals. When the landfills are full, where are we going to put all that garbage?! We dont want it in our backyard! Instead of recycling, we throw most of our waste away. People litter too much and create too much air pollution. Nobody cares about our world anymore. The problem is that people are throwing away things that can be recycled or composted, like plastic, bottles, cans and apple cores. More people need to learn how to recycle so that there is less waste. Many people still dont care enough to do anything about this problem. Many people simply dont want to recycle. We need to get more people involved in recycling to make a big difference - to make our planet a nice, clean and better place. Everyone needs to take better care of the world and think about the worlds future. Think about it. People really need to use the four Rs Recycle, Reuse, Reduce and Rethink. Our class has thought about other Rs Repair, Reclaim and Responsibility. Some people are trying to make a difference by using these Rs as much as they can...

Waste pollutes the world. This affects everybody. We have become a throwaway society. Why does this problem exist? Perhaps, people think its a waste of time to recycle and they dont care about their environ-ment Not enough people are choosing to recycle. People dont realize how much damage wasting can do and they dont care what they throw on the ground anymore! There is too much over-packaging of pro-ducts and way too many disposable items. They fill up our garbage dumps with plastics, glass, metal and compostable materials instead. How often have you seen candy wrappers thrown on the ground? People throw cans away or into the ditches, and dump garbage, oil and toxic waste in the water. Too many people dont recycle. Do you want to see your planet destroyed by waste? We use toxic chemicals for weeding, cleaning and killing those pesky mosquitos with sprays. These chemicals go into the ground and pollute the soil and the water which causes fish to die. Other chemicals go into the air and make air pollution, like the industries and automobiles. Pollution is a byproduct of industry. Rather than walk or ride bikes or take busses, they drive separate vehicles and the exhaust pollutes the air. All this pollution affects people, birds, trees and other plants. Too many trees are being cut down, destroying the homes and lives of many animals. Tons of paper is made from trees that take many years to grow, only to be wasted in the landfills, rather than recycled. People can get asthma and other diseases. One students grandparents are living next to a landfill site and are getting very sick. Birds could choke and die on plastics. Animals drink dirty, polluted water and they get sick. Maybe, if more people did care, we would have cleaner land, water and air. We have to stop this problem! We should find more ways to recycle garbage, reduce the landfill sites which produce leachates and destroy the environment.

How is the environment affected by all this waste and pollution? When people litter, it pollutes our envi-ronment with garbage that is not biodegradable. Farmers pollute the land when they dump chemicals, fertilizers, and human sewage. The water is polluted when leachates from landfills leaks into the ground-water and get into our water supply. Factories pollute our water (rivers, lakes, oceans, seas) by dumping industrial waste into them instead of filtering and reusing the chemicals and water. When we dump toxic chemicals into the ground, this will kill the nutrients in the soil so that nothing will grow. This can also pollute our water supplies, kill fish, waterfowl and make us ill. Animals can also die from chemicals that pollute the water such as oil and gas. The air is polluted by the methane gas that comes out of landfills. Car exhaust also pollutes the air. Factories pollute the air with the smoke they produce when they burn coal and natural gas to make electricity and heat our homes, offices and buildings. Other poisonous gases like car-bon dioxide, CFCs and even cigarette smoke escape into the air and make it hard for us to breathe, like people with asthma. The air smells from gas fumes and industry. Big factories fill our clean air with pollution. When we clear cut trees, animals and other wildlife will die. Many fruits and vegetables are treated with sprays to protect them from insects. Who wants to eat food with harmful pesticides on them?

Who is affected by this problem? Everybody (every single one of us) and every living creature in nature is affected because it is a big problem! People, animals, birds, plant life, insects and sea life have all been affected one way or another by this problem. We are are all affected by this waste problem. So are many other nonliving things! Factories affect us with the smoke they produce. The smoke goes into the air we breathe. When we breathe that air, we get sick. Other living things get sick form that air too. Some even die! When farmers and other factory workers dump chemicals and sewage into lakes and rivers, it kills the fish and other things that live in the water. It also makes us sick when, or if, we drink that water.

Being aware of the waste problem is the first step we must all take to solving this global problem. So, how can we correct the problem? How can we make a positive difference to make our world a cleaner, greener place? The second step is to realize that you, yes, you can make a positive difference to help save and pro-tect your environment! In our school, for the last five years, we have been helping the environment by doing a number of different things. Here are some ways we have contributed to make our world a better place.

1. We have been recycling items like juice boxes, milk cartons, cardboard, paper, metal, plastics, glass, wood and pop cans, as much as we can. We are trying not to waste. We wish the everyone in the whole world would do that...

. We have a composter to make nutrient-rich soil for the plants that we grow in our greenhouse (for our garden club) and around our school. We reuse milk cartons to transplant the flowers, herbs and vegetables that we grow. We also save our lunch scraps (chicken num-nums) and apple cores (goat goodies) for a lady on our school staff who feeds them to her animals on the farm.

. We make crafts with recyclable plastics, cardboard and other odds and ends. We even have an Enviro-Invention Convention in our Grade Four classes to see who can come up with neat ideas using all kinds of recycled materials! We had fun and thought it was pretty cool to see how many art projects and toys we could make out of left over garbage!

4. We make booklets out of used one-sided paper. Teachers and students find these to be quite handy and useful.

5. We are also making a website to share information about recycling with others, helping them to become more aware of pollution from the Internet.

6. We are learning about and practising the 4 + Rs as much as we can...

7. Our whole school participated in the SEEDS program and earned the EARTH status. That is, we worked together to complete more than 1000 environmentally - friendly activities!

8. We have had school-wide toy and book exchanges, rather than throwing them away. (It is important to note how caring, interested and supportive our parents and staff and volunteers have been. We appreciate all their help!)

Ares was the Greek god of War. The Romans had a similar figure in their religion, whom they called Mars. Ares was the son of Zeus and Hera. Hebe, Hephaestus, and Epis were his siblings. Ares was hated by most of the gods for his cruel and violent manner. Being the god of war, he would ride into battle on his chariot pulled by his horses, flame and terror. Also accompanying him in battle was his sister Epis (Goddess of Discord) and Hades (Lord of the dead). There is one goddess who loved him, and that was Aphrodite. He was the father of Deimos (Fear) and Phobos (Terror), among others. One of which, Kyknos, was killed by Herakles. Unfortunately for Ares, he could not avenge his son's death because Zeus would not let his least favorite son (Ares) harm his favorite son (Herakles).

As you can see, Ares was not very good with personal relations. Only one god loved him, and he was very violent and ruthless when it came to battle. He was the god of action and determination, which gave him the perfect qualities to be the god of war. To represent this god, he was given the symbol of the vulture. This suited him well as he killed the weak in battle, such as a vulture does to its prey. It was also given the symbol of the dog, for reasons that I do not know. One example of a myth that Ares had a part in is the Trojan War. When he was fighting on the side of the Trojans, he was wounded by Pallas Athene. After deflecting his spear, she hurled a boulder and knocked Ares senseless. He needed to be assisted from the battle by Aphrodite. Another example from the same war is when Ares swooped down in his chariot to protect Aphrodite's son, Aineias. He saved him from sure death at the hands of Achaians. While Ares protected Aineias with his shield, Aphrodite fled to mount Olympus to heal her wounds.

Although Ares was despised by most, he was honored by all great warriors, including Herakles (the killer of Ares' son). There were no cities that worshiped Ares, however. Since most people feared him, they did not think it was possible to satisfy his violent temper or find any way to please him. There is some information about Ares coming from the city of Thrace, but if they worshipped him or not is unknown. Some rituals regarding Ares are known, such as that done by a warrior. "Seven warriors, fierce regiment-commanders, slaughtered a bull over a black shield, and then touching the bulls gore with their hands they swore an oath by Ares" (Aeschylus). As you can see, worshiping Ares involves many sacrifices and very violent behavior, which reflects upon the god's personality. Today, there are many words that pertain to the god Ares, but by his Roman name, Mars. The word martial means of or pertaining to battle, which relates directly to the god Mars. Also, when the military authority takes over the power of civil authority, the population is said to be under martial law. The name of the month March is also derived from Mars (Classical…).

As you can see, Ares was a very important and unique part of Greek mythology. He was much needed to fill the gap of symbolizing the spirit of war in ancient times. Although some thought him to be cowardly, he was still honored and treated like a true god.

Honourable lords and ladies of Venice we are gathered here today to remember the life of the courageous Othello. Many of you have come to mourn his death but I on the other hand have come here before you all to celebrate, not his passing away but as a tribute to his contribution to us, the people.

What a tragic way to end a proud and honourable role of dedication, leadership, and faithful servant to the people of Venice. Many of the people in this room today will agree with me in saying that Othello never permitted devious and cowardly acts, he was a man who believed in the importance to serve, and knew his role as gallant warrior of Venice. They were given to him for his tremendous traits. Whether they be from the art of hand to hand combat to the full protection and leadership of his people.

Being close to the great Othello I have shared many priceless and revealing moments with this intriguing leader. He once branded himself with the "Great ones," of the world and I can truthfully state that Othello did it without showing any signs of being modest. His love for success proved to be an extremely powerful characteristic in gaining the support that he did. I could hardly praise Othello enough being centred constantly around him, he was a remarkable man, none the less. In my eyes, a man who's actions did not seek respect but demanded it because there was nothing that people could give to him other that respect when faced by the outstanding achievements brought about by his actions. A man who backed his eloquent words with decisive actions will remain cherished in the hearts of the people forever.

His story will live on for centuries to come. It can be said that his charisma caused him to tower in sheer force and nobility above all others in Venice. Being his lieutenant I for one can honestly vouch for the truth in this statement.

Cheap Custom Essays on Othello, Shakespere

Poor Othello, a man who loved not wisely but to much, a truer statement can never be said when describing Othello's love for Desdemona. Desdemona and Othello's love for each other was that of one of the passionate excesses of youth. For this reason Othello's love for Desdemona, caused much jealousy and mistrust in him. The calm and tactical mind that was his as a general failed him as a compassionate and caring lover.

It amazes me that a man's qualities can also be his weaknesses. Othello was a talented speaker, however it was passion that lead to him being mislead by words. How tragically ironic it is that a man so gifted with words can be deceived so easily be them. Oh what outrageous fortune,… how you could have avoided such a thing. My poor Othello, if only I knew what pain you were going through due to your mistrust, perhaps I could have done something to put your heart and mind at ease.

And now we shall all rise and give our last respects to the moor of Venice, A man of courage, nobility, charisma, intelligence and above all passion. He was a general of our fair state and we shall honour him as one. Othello, the state of Venice we never forget you. So let the soldiers take up his casket and the trumpets sing aloud for the heavens shall find Othello.

Growing up in New York City you couldn't help but be surrounded by diversity. There are people of all races, color and cultures. This allowed me to interact with people of all races and through my education become aware of the things people of color go through and are still going through on a daily basis.

I grew up in a neighborhood that was diverse (Black, Spanish, White), however I never paid much attention to these differences. I always saw people for their race, whether they were black, white, Latino, but it never affected the way I would interact with them. In grade school, the student and staff population was predominantly white. During my seven years at this school I never saw myself as a black child because race was never a factor to me. I never felt like I was being persecuted or that there was something working against me. As I continued with my education through grammar school, which was also predominantly white, I continued to have this frame of mind. Not seeing color, nobody really pointing out to me what color I was or treating me any differently than any other student and if that had occurred I never thought it was because of the color of my skin. However, when I progressed to high school everything changed. High school was different than my previous schools, mainly because it was predominately blacks and Latinos. Here is where I learned about skin color and how black people are "supposed" to act. I remember people asking me if I was white and why did I speak the way I spoke, which was proper English. I never knew there was a specific way black people were "supposed" to act. During my four years at this school, I learned the way other minority students perceived race, how they felt about white people and how they felt that white people were oppressing them.

Coming to Notre Dame further showed me how race came into play. Over the few months that I've been here I've seen how race has become a factor. As shown in the Diversity video I understand how minority students are treated in the video and how it goes on right here on Notre Dame campus. Throughout my year of education I never blamed someone's reaction, interaction, negative attitude towards me due to the color of my skin. However, when I went to a party on campus with a group of my minority students we were not let in because they said that the party was only for people of the section and people who knew them. Later on I found out how the parties were usually run in this particular dorm and that what had happen to us was not usual, therefore it made me wonder about why we were really turned out from the party. Unlike the student in the film I don't feel like I'm being persecuted directly to my face, however indirectly. For example, people not coming straight up to me and being like get out of here your black, but in more of a "this is only for people who belong to the section". I was never one of those people who would blame things that didn't go my way because of the color of my skin, however in some cases now I learned how it has played a factor and still plays a factor in the lives of minority students.
